Persuasion Compression describes the phenomenon where AI-mediated consideration-set formation occurs without advertising exposure, reducing or eliminating advertising marginal influence. In human-mediated discovery, advertising precedes consideration and can influence which options enter the consideration set. In AI-mediated zero-click interfaces, consideration sets may be formed without any ad exposure, creating a bypass mechanism that compresses advertising effectiveness. PC is the core hypothesis explaining why paid media may become less effective in AI-mediated markets.
